ANNOUNCING SVP’S NEWEST INVESTEE ORGANIZATION Thank you to everyone who helped read grants and meet with grant finalists last month. We have chosen MIGIZI to be the newest Investee organization that will be working with Social Venture Partners Minnesota for a multi-year partnership. SVP MN provides various levels of grant funding, peer-learning and pro bono MIGIZI acts as a circle of support that nurtures the development of Native American youth in order to unleash their creativity and dreams – to benefit themselves, their families and community. MIGIZI puts youth first, supporting youth-driven activities that fully engage youth in a self-directed path to holistic wellness and to success in education and employment. Their programs include workforce development in green jobs and media, academic support, and out-of-school time youth development programming. For over 40 years they have been working for positive support for Native American youth in our community. They Other current Investee organizations include: 30,000 Feet, Bridgemakers MN, Wallin Education Partners, Ain Dah Yung, Foster Advocates, Bolder Options, Planting People Growing Justice, Transforming Generations, Sweet Potato Comfort Pie and ComMUSICation. SVP has supported over 100 organizations in the Twin Cities since its inception in 2002.
ANNOUNCING OUR NEW SVP YOUTH SPARKS COMPETITION PROMOTING INNOVATIVE IDEAS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE
Are you a young person who is 12-24 years old? Do you have an innovative idea that will improve our world? An idea that will positively impact youth? An idea that will help change your community? Then this SVP YouthSparks Ideas Competition is for you! We are looking for good ideas and we know YOU have them. Start Applications are due December 30th and should include a short video submission and a short description of your idea. We are encouraging early submissions and we will only be accepting the first 100 submissions. Application can be found here. Finalists will be featured at our Annual Together for Good Celebration of Giving & Gratitude on January 22, 2024. Social Venture Partners MN believes in the power of youth voices. We will also feature the winners of Tickets are free, but Sponsorship level tickets and donations will support youth leaders and community organizations’ attendance at the event. Anti-Racism Education Resources The Othering and Belonging institute has launched their new OBI University where we can all learn to build a world where everyone belongs. Take free classes with the Othering & Belonging Institute at UC Berkeley, the Together at the Othering & Belonging Institute University (OBIU), we’ll learn about structural marginalization and the processes of othering, and the building blocks of belonging, so we can co-create a world where all are included in our circle of care and concern.
