Apply for a Grant
SVP Minnesota invests in promising youth-serving nonprofits for collaborative capacity building work. We work shoulder-to-shoulder with Investees (we call them Investees, because we are invested in their impact and in the youth they serve) to identify projects and outcomes that advance their impact in the community and the sustainability of their organization. SVP’s investment in innovative organizations combine both a financial grant and pro bono consulting services. We believe we make a greater impact together!
- General operating support. We know how critical general operating dollars are and believe you’re best positioned to decide where the grant money should be invested.
- A commitment to working in partnership. We are committed to centering the voices and expertise of nonprofit leaders. We get that there’s a power dynamic in funding relationships and will do our best to mitigate that. We will collaborate to define success up front and together.
- Tools and support to assess your organization. Together, we will identify outcomes and projects to address your growth potential.
- Skilled volunteers (aka SVP Partners) who work collaboratively with you on building your organization’s capacity and sustainability.
What We Bring
to the Table
- A willingness to take a hard look at your organization, and to share challenges and opportunities openly. After a thorough, 360 degree assessment is complete, we will roll up our sleeves and start our work together.
- Flexibility and openness to working with volunteers with varied professional backgrounds who are invested in your success.
- A commitment to open communication when something isn’t working. That may be uncomfortable, but our best results come from authentic relationships and mutual learning.
- A work plan and progress check-ins to hold ourselves accountable to achieving defined outcomes.
This may seem like a heavy lift for Investees who are already stretched to capacity. Our model is not right for all organizations, or for all stages of organizational development. But when the fit and timing are right, our Investees say it’s worth every ounce of effort!

From You
Become a Partner
Partners make an annual contribution to SVP Minnesota. Contributions from individual donors are supplemented by corporate and foundation support. All funds are pooled and invested through grants to youth-serving organizations; workshops, events and programs that advance our mission; and administrative support to sustain the SVP model. This is how your financial donation is more than just writing a check, but leveraged to amplify its impact.
