SVP FELLOWS PROGRAM
The goal of the SVP Fellows program...
is to more intentionally center the diverse communities that we serve in our work. By actively seeking to include a wider variety of voices and skills that supplement or add value to those already represented in our Partnership, we aim to become an authentically inclusive organization, better equipped to serve the Twin Cities community with understanding, cultural competency and deep mutual learning. Further, we hold ourselves accountable for creating a meaningful, engaging and valuable experience for our Fellows.
Ellen Mitchell Gallagher
This program was developed in memory of Ellen Mitchell Gallagher – an early supporter and Board member of SVP Minnesota – with a generous matching gift from Gary Gallagher, and the Marjorie Weil & Marvin Edward Mitchell Foundation.
Consider a gift to the SVP Fellows program to honor Ellen and sustain this program in the years ahead.
The SVP Fellows program is a two-year skills-based volunteer experience for community-minded professionals, leaders and social entrepreneurs who are Black, Indigenous and/or People of Color and who:
- Believe better futures are imperative for under-resourced youth
- Seek to use their skills to collaborate with nonprofits on organizational capacity building
- Demonstrate a commitment to racial equity and eliminating systemic injustices
- Desire working shoulder-to-shoulder with others on highly strategic initiatives
- Are eager to hone current skills and learn new skills via a cohort experience
- Are critical thinkers and willing to give a minimum of 50 hours/year of skills-based volunteering
- Embrace SVP’s vision that every young person’s future unfolds uncompromised by systemic injustice.
SVP seeks individuals who meet the criteria outlined above, are connected to populations we serve and have a passion for strengthening the Twin Cities community through hands-on work with innovative nonprofits. An ideal SVP Fellow has skills needed for nonprofit impact building projects (i.e., program evaluation, fund and/or business development, nonprofit leadership, strategic planning, etc.) and is committed to co-creating opportunities for all to thrive.
Nominate or Apply to be a SVP Fellow TODAY!
SVP Fellows are selected through a nomination or application process. Applications can be found here. Materials will still be accepted on a rolling basis until Fellowships are filled.
Fellows become full SVP Partners. They experience the benefits of SVP Partnership through network expansion, leadership and philanthropic development, workshops and more. SVP Fellows are asked to contribute a minimum of 50 hours/year to skills-based volunteering on SVP projects, with a commitment to a two-year engagement (may be renewable). Watch this video for more about being an SVP Partner.
